Hello and welcome to the adventures of your everyday atheist! I stand for social justice and am completely pro-equality, but I strongly disagree with the tumblr-type social justice warrior bullshit. Also, my ask box is always open. No but really, it is open to anything and everything.
For a blog with less of a point, I have a personal account: thelifeandtimesof-amanda.tumblr.com

If you refuse to call a creationist an idiot because ZOMG ABLEIST! but don’t even hesitate to tell a teenager to kill themselves because they wanted to have a calm discusion about appropriation or whatever with you, your prioritites are seriously fucked up.
1) If God wants evil to exist he is not all-good.
2) If God does not want evil to exist he is not all-powerful
3) If God doesn’t know that evil exists he is not all-knowing.

Some you might recognize this as a slide I used at Tumblr Prep. It was awesome to meet some of you there!
Did you see this article? I thought it was interesting.

Today I saw that Romney claimed that the president will lie during the debates. I thought I would look at their records on Politifact.com to see how reliable each candidate has been. Out of the statements analyzed by Politifact, this is the percent of things they have said that have been on the spectrum of true and false, for Obama and Romney.
This isn’t perfect, since Obama has been rated more frequently than Romney has. Still, it’s interesting to see how often each candidate gets rated in each category.

Person whose name was blocked out in red,
Just because you’d rather die, doesn’t mean everyone else should have to.
I need feminism because I shouldn’t have to fight the urge to stay quiet when I hear a sexist joke, assuming “they don’t mean any harm by it.” It shouldn’t be SO ACCEPTABLE!
“this mark guy leaves comments like this on pretty much all of my friend’s statuses…”
no, you ARE somebody regardless of whether anybody else loves you or not. not being loved by anyone else can be really difficult, but the MOST important thing is that you love yourself. it sounds cheesy, but i promise you it’s really true. i’m sorry, i’m just kinda mad that no one actually corrected Carter. Mark’s comment is a little annoying, but fine, whatever. even as an atheist/anti-theist myself, i’m more bothered by the lack of comment correcting Carter than Mark’s religious comment.
For me. I need feminism because I don’t want to be expected to give up my last name when I get married. I need feminism because I want to experience emotions deeply and not feel that this makes me a less capable woman. I need feminism because it should be a conversation about who will stay home with the kids, not an assumption.
For others. I need feminism for my friends who don’t understand that their no really can mean no. I need feminism for my friends who are starving themselves and running themselves silly so they can look like the ideal woman. I need feminism for my friends who cannot tell their own family members about their sexual orientation and cry about it on their own instead.
For the world. I need feminism for the 60% of West African women who endure violence inflicted by their intimate partners. I need feminism for the 9/10 Afghan women who suffer physical, sexual, or psychological violence, or forced marriage, at least once in their lives. And I need feminism for the Pakistani women who are killed because they provide information about women’s rights.
